Our client is a leading international contractor delivering complex, large-scale construction projects across Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and high-quality project delivery, the company operates across a wide range of sectors including commercial developments, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, and mission-critical data centre facilities.

Due to continued growth within the data centre sector, our client is seeking an experienced MEP Commissioning Manager to join the delivery team on a major data centre project in Portugal.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) commissioning activities, ensuring systems are delivered, tested, and handed over in full compliance with project specifications, programme requirements, and client expectations. Working closely with project leadership, construction teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives, the MEP Commissioning Manager will play a critical role in driving the overall commissioning strategy and ensuring seamless integration across all building systems.

The successful candidate will work closely with construction, QA/QC, and commissioning teams to ensure all MEP systems are commissioned in accordance with design intent, industry best practices, and project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all MEP commissioning activities on a large-scale data centre project in Portugal
• Develop and implement commissioning strategies, programmes, and procedures across mechanical, electrical, and public health systems
• Oversee commissioning of key systems including HVAC, chilled water, LV/MV electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, fire protection, and associated infrastructure
• Ensure effective integration and coordination between mechanical and electrical systems during commissioning phases
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, and specialist commissioning teams
• Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, standards, and safety requirements
• Drive commissioning schedules in line with the overall project programme and key milestones
• Lead factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and integrated systems testing (IST)
• Identify, manage, and resolve technical issues and system deficiencies during commissioning phases
• Ensure all commissioning documentation is completed, accurate, and aligned with handover requirements
• Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout commissioning and handover
• Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure systems meet required quality standards
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all commissioning activities
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and company procedures
