Mechanical Commissioning Manager – Data Centre – Sines, Portugal

Our client is a dedicated Data Centre Construction company providing turnkey solutions to our clients, headquartered in Dublin and delivering throughout Europe. As an engineering-focused organisation, they have grown to become one of the leading and most trusted companies in our sector. 
We are pleased to announce that we are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Manager to join our team. This position will be based on-site in Sines, Portugal.

Responsibilities

•    Own the End-to-End Mechanical Commissioning Process
Take full responsibility for mechanical commissioning from pre-commissioning planning through to final handover. Develop and manage the commissioning programme, ensuring alignment with overall project schedules while identifying risks early and putting mitigation plans in place.
•    Lead Commissioning of Critical Mechanical Systems
Drive the commissioning of all mechanical systems including HVAC plant, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, and associated infrastructure. Ensure systems are installed, tested, and operating in line with design intent, client specifications, and mission-critical standards expected on a data centre.
•    Plan and Execute Testing & Integrated Systems Validation
Oversee and coordinate all levels of testing including FAT, SAT, pre-functional and functional testing, IST, and full integrated systems testing. Ensure sequencing is correct, dependencies are managed, and systems perform reliably under load and failure scenarios.
•    Coordinate Multidisciplinary Teams & Stakeholders
Act as the key interface between design consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives. Chair commissioning meetings, track progress, drive accountability, and ensure clear communication across all parties to maintain programme and quality targets.
•    Drive Quality, Compliance and Documentation Standards
Ensure all commissioning activities are fully documented, compliant with project requirements, and ready for audit and handover. Review and sign off on method statements, test scripts, and commissioning records while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and operational readiness.

Requirements

Must have relevant degree level qualifications or equivalent trades background
Must have 7+ years’ experience in a similar role on large scale construction projects (preferably Data Centres)
Must have EU Passport or RTW in Portugal
